Since it’s inception in 2000, the Hudson Valley Film Commission (HVFC) has worked to create a new strategic economic development vision by serving as a conduit for pre-production, production and post-production in the Hudson Valley/Catskill region. A vibrant film and new media community now exists, and the HVFC is poised to make this sustainable business opportunity a part of the economic plan for the Mid-Hudson Valley Region.
The Commission works year round to attract and assist studio and independent features, print, television, new media, short films, student projects, and TV advertising. The HVFC provides technical, location and talent guidance, referrals, networking opportunities, eMail blasts, promotion through press opportunities, and a monthly e-newsletter that is sent to over 10,000 filmmakers, government officials and industry reps worldwide. HVFC has also helped local projects find production companies and financial channels. In addition, a free online production directory is maintained to generate jobs for area film professionals at www.HudsonValleyFilmCommission.org
The goal of the Commission has and continues to be to position the region as a prominent venue for film and television activity within New York State, and bring a contemporary, clean, environmentally friendly, and socially responsible industry to our area. HVFC advances new economic opportunities, increases living standards, and builds stronger communities by providing career and educational opportunities not usually available in rural areas.
