We'll look more carefully into the 2024 Oscar nominations to explore other potential Mid Hudson Valley connections, but for now, here's a short list mostly regarding nominated actors that have either lived in, or worked in the Mid Hudson Valley.
While staying completely out of any controversies regarding snubs, we did want to point out that one of the nominees for Best Adapted Screenplay went to a Vassar College alumni.
BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY
Greta Gerwig, Noah Baumbach, “Barbie”
*Baumbach received a BA in English from Vassar College in 1991. While at Vassar, he and fellow future filmmaker, Jason Blum, were roommates. Blum later produced Baumbach's first film, ”Kicking and Screaming” in 1995. In 2011, Baumbach directed “Frances Ha” at Vassar. He co-wrote the screenplay with his future wife, Greta Gerwig.
